Everyone who has
ever seen the Swingtips perform knows how much fun it is to be a part of the band's live,
interactive shows. Audiences of all ages find themselves laughing, singing, dancing, and
even performing on stage with the band in the tradition of Vaudevilles golden age of
variety entertainment. This is what the Swingtips are all about - good times, good music
and good people.
The Swingtips
can be traced back to Kregg Barentine, who in 1992 was responsible in part for the
Zony-award winning 1930-40s swing revue, The
All-Night Strut, which played to sold-out crowds each night. Soon after, Barentine was
offered a touring spot with The Glenn Miller Orchestra playing saxophone, clarinet and
flute in 93 and 94. After his return to the Phoenix-metro area, Barentine
played to European and U.S. markets with his own original music, continuing to perform
with the Dorsey Orchestra, Wayne Newton, Bob Newhart, Guy Lombardo, Tito Puente Jr., and
others.
The Swingtips have been noted as one of the hottest nostalgia
pop acts to emerge in the industry. The Swingtips original music has also been hailed as
some of the most "excellent original,
top notch swing material" (Tower
Records) on the market, influencing audiences for the past decade in respected venues
across the U.S., which include: the prestigious Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, NV; regular
featured act at Disney World in Orlando, FL for four years; featured at the 60th
anniversary of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY; featured by Major League
Baseball teams - AZ Diamondbacks, Boston Red
Sox, the NY Mets at Shea Stadium, and featured at the historic 2001 World Series. The
Swingtips music can be heard on radio stations around the globe and is featured in film/TV
on: CMT, FOX, HBO, Cartoon Network, WB hit shows "Roswell" and
"Felicity", ABCs All My Children,
and in FX Networks two-time Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning show, The Shield. Many persons may also recognize
Barentines voice and production work on the Lights,
Camera, Harkins
commercial spots that have played every minute of each
working day in all of the Harkins Theaters throughout the Southwest for many years.
Having released four albums, the Swingtips have been included on numerous national and
international recordings/CD compilations alongside legendary artists: Ella Fitzgerald,
B.B. King, Louie Prima, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Paul Simon, Garrison Keeler, Louis
Armstrong, Lena Horne, Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters.
